Green juice in the morning: a simple habit to support the body’s natural detox processes

Healthy Recipies
Starting your day with a light, fresh, and nourishing drink can be a gentle way to support digestion, hydrate your body, and assist its natural cleansing processes.

Morning is a particularly powerful moment to support the body’s natural elimination and repair. After a night of rest, the body has been fasting and working on digestion and regeneration, so what you consume first thing in the morning can have a meaningful impact.

Rather than thinking of “detox” as a quick fix, it’s more helpful to see it as a way to support the body’s own ability to cleanse itself, respecting its natural rhythms. In this context, green juice can be a great ally.

Consumed on an empty stomach or as your first intake of the day, it provides hydration, fiber, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and plant compounds that help gently activate digestion, support bowel movements, and nourish the body early on.

When prepared in a blender (instead of a juicer), it retains fiber, which is essential for gut health and proper elimination.

Why can it be beneficial in the morning?

Starting your day with green juice can be a simple way to offer your body a light and nourishing first stimulus.

Some of its potential benefits include:

• hydrating the body after the night • stimulating digestion and bowel function • providing natural antioxidants • adding chlorophyll and minerals from leafy greens • supporting a feeling of lightness, clarity, and energy

It doesn’t replace a balanced diet or work as a magic solution, but it can be a valuable habit within a healthy routine.

Green juice recipe

You can prepare it in a blender (to keep the fiber) or with an immersion blender. A juicer can also be used if needed, although it removes the fiber.

Ingredients

• 1/2 apple or 1/2 pear • Juice of 1 orange • Juice of 1/2 lemon • A handful of leafy greens (spinach, parsley, or celery without the stalk) • 200 ml water • 1 teaspoon spirulina powder

Preparation

Blend all ingredients until smooth. Ideally, consume immediately to preserve its nutrients.

What does this juice provide?

Fresh fruit: apple or pear Provides fiber, hydration, and natural sweetness, making the juice easier to digest. Also contains antioxidant compounds.

Orange and lemon Rich in vitamin C, important for immune function, skin health, and antioxidant protection.

Leafy greens Provide chlorophyll, minerals, and phytonutrients that support cellular nutrition and digestive health.

Spirulina A source of nutrients, minerals, and antioxidants that may help support the body’s natural detox processes.

The importance of fiber

This is key: fiber helps feed the microbiota, improve bowel movements, and support elimination. That’s why blending (instead of straining) is recommended whenever possible.

An important note: although green juice can be very beneficial, it may not be suitable for everyone, every day, or in every season.

Each body is different, and it’s important to listen to your own signals.

For some people, it works best on an empty stomach; for others, it may feel better later in the morning or alongside other foods.

Sometimes, the simplest habits are the most powerful. A morning green juice is not a trend or a miracle cure, but it can be a conscious way to start your day with more nourishment, energy, and vitality.

The body already knows how to cleanse and regenerate itself — it often just needs the right support.
